Historic Geneva archivist Becky Chapin will lead a program about General Lafayette’s visit to Geneva in 1825. The event will take place at the Geneva Public Library, 244 Main St, on Saturday, May 10 from 10 a.m. to noon.

The presentation will detail how Lafayette, a hero of the American Revolution, came to Geneva, how local residents received him, and how certain local legends, such as the story of the Lafayette tree, developed over time. The program is part of the commemoration of the 200th anniversary of Lafayette’s visit, which will be celebrated on June 8. It is presented in partnership with the Seneca Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution.

The event is free and open to the public.
