On August 4, 2025, at about 6:00 a.m., the City of Geneva Police Department responded to a criminal mischief complaint at Nieder Park. Officers found that a vehicle had driven through the park and performed several burnouts on the recently resurfaced basketball court. The incident caused damages estimated at over $500.

The police are asking anyone who witnessed the event or who may have video footage of the vehicle or the individuals involved to contact the Geneva Police Department. Tips can remain anonymous. City officials and the police department have reminded residents and visitors to treat park spaces with respect, avoid damaging activities, and report suspicious behavior.
