Greeley Council Approves $350K Special Election Funding

At the most recent City Council meeting on January 20 in Greeley, council members approved $350,000 to cover expenses required for upcoming special elections. This funding ensures that the City meets its Charter and budgeting obligations.

The Council also discussed strategies for addressing Greeley’s growth and housing affordability challenges. A detailed presentation outlined the need for affordable and attainable housing, highlighted strategies and incentives used in other communities, and reviewed the impacts of affordable housing on neighborhoods. Discussion points included state-specific homebuyer and homeowner assistance programs and the Housing Solutions Department’s goal for 2026 to provide housing options across the full affordability spectrum.

In addition, the Council appointed Weld County Commissioner Lynette Peppler to serve as the County Representative on the Island Grove Advisory Board. Her appointment will continue through December 31, 2026.
