Greeley Fire Offers Free CPR Training
Greeley Fire is partnering with the American Heart Association this February to promote CPR training during American Heart Month. The fire department is providing free, non-certifying CPR classes once a month in the evening at Fire Station 1. This month’s class is nearly full, and additional sessions will be available for registration in the future.
Participants learn how to help someone suffering a cardiac arrest by performing CPR. The training covers checking a scene for safety, checking for responsiveness, calling for help and 911, starting chest compressions at a rate of 100-120 per minute, and giving breaths after every 30 compressions.
Greeley Fire also encourages residents to download the free PulsePoint app, which alerts users to nearby incidents of cardiac arrest in public areas across Weld County and provides guidance on offering bystander CPR until first responders arrive.
