YMCA Director Helps Staten Island Children Love School
STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — Allison, known to her West Brighton community as “Miss Allison,” is the Early Childhood Director at the Broadway YMCA in Staten Island. She has spent more than 20 years creating a warm, welcoming space where children can begin their earliest school experiences with confidence and joy.
From “Let’s Get Ready for 3K” to Pre-K and summer camp, Allison and her team focus on hands-on learning, authentic expression, and one simple goal: helping every child love school.

Brighton Fire Rescue responded to a lightning-caused grass fire and a later dumpster fire at the Riverwalk Apartments. Crews extinguished both fires and crews were on scene to review security camera footage for the second incident.
