The GenConnect Program recently concluded an eight‐week Family Enrichment and Development Program organized by the NYC Office of Multilingual Learners at the Brighton Beach Library in Brooklyn. Over 50 participants, including parents and public school students, took part in the workshops.

During the program, families engaged in games, conversations, and various activities. The sessions offered participants the opportunity to learn about history, culture, advocacy, and community building. At the end of the program, certificates were distributed to acknowledge everyone’s participation and achievements.

The program was supported by Lisa Ukpong, Senior Director of Family and Community Partnerships at the Office of Multilingual Learners, New York City Public Schools, and hosted by Adriana Mitchell, Branch Manager at the Brighton Beach Library. The initiative was a collaborative effort between Apna Brooklyn Community Center, Multilingual NYC, and New York City Public Schools.
