Brighton police release weekly crime report
Brighton police released their weekly crime report, saying officers handled multiple significant incidents during the week.
The department said there was a burglary in progress, an arrest for felony menacing, a trespassing incident, and a shoplifting case.
Police also responded to a call that initially involved a dog attack. After reviewing video footage, officers said they saw the dog’s owner slam the dog to the ground. Officers then charged the owner, and the dog was taken to the Riverdale Animal Shelter.
Police reported the following weekly statistics: 1,197 total calls for service, 191 traffic stops, 43 crashes and 47 arrests.

Brighton Fire Rescue responded to a lightning-caused grass fire and a later dumpster fire at the Riverwalk Apartments. Crews extinguished both fires and crews were on scene to review security camera footage for the second incident.
