Geneva Library Launches Compost Kit Giveaway Contest

Geneva Public Library in Geneva, NY, is hosting an opportunity to win a backyard composting kit provided by the Ontario County Department of Sustainability and Solid Waste Management. To enter, visitors should sign up for the email list at the main desk before April 28, 2025. A staff member is available to assist with participation, and one winner will be chosen on April 28.

For those who do not want to wait for the contest, composting kits are available for purchase at OntarioCountyRecycles.org for $25 while supplies last.

The Department explains that composting collects and processes organic materials—such as food scraps and yard waste—that would otherwise be sent to landfill or incinerated. When these materials are composted, they are turned into useful products like compost that can improve soil quality by returning nutrients to the earth.
