WELD COUNTY, Colo. — The Colorado State Patrol in Lakewood reports the southbound lanes of I-25/I-70 at milepost 245 are closed due to a crash.

Roybal-Smith sentenced to 80 years for three murders
Denver District Attorney John Walsh said Ricky Roybal-Smith pleaded guilty to second-degree murder in Denver and to two counts of second-degree murder in Adams County, receiving 56 years for the Denver charges and 80 years in Adams County to run concurrently with the Denver sentence after strangling 34-year-old Vincent Chacon in a Downtown Detention Center cell on June 30, 2025.

Greeley: 11th Ave, H St closed through April 30
Greeley, Colo. — The intersection of 11th Avenue and H Street will be closed March 30 through April 30 for water and sanitary sewer improvements, with detours on O Street to the north, 2nd Street to the south, N. 25th Avenue to the west and 8th Avenue to the east, a project officials say will strengthen the city’s water and sewer systems.

Investigation under way after officer-involved shooting in Greeley
Greeley, Colo. — The 19th Judicial Critical Incident Response Team is investigating an officer-involved shooting that occurred about 9:20 a.m. today in the 5700 block of 20th Street after officers confronted a knife-wielding 20-year-old who charged them; a Greeley police officer was injured, the suspect died at a local hospital, and investigators say the suspect had previously stabbed his 22-year-old brother, who died from his injuries.

Brush fire near 48th and Monaco contained after joint response
A fast-moving brush fire near 48th and Monaco in Denver prompted a multi-agency response from Denver Fire, South Adams County Fire and Adams County Fire, with 21 rigs on scene and about 450 feet of hose deployed as crews fought the blaze for roughly 45 minutes to bring it under control, with assistance from CCPD and Platte Valley Ambulance.

Greeley man sentenced to 159 years for fentanyl, meth distribution
Greeley, Colo. — A man was sentenced to 159 years in prison in Weld County for fentanyl and meth distribution, following the work of the Weld County Drug Task Force and prosecutors with the Weld County District Attorney’s Office, which said the case involved the removal of thousands of fentanyl pills and large amounts of methamphetamine from the community.
