The City of Brighton, Colorado is hosting the 2024 Brighton Civic Academy to promote civic engagement and educate residents on city departments. The seven-week program covers topics like city governance, budgeting, utilities, public works, police, and parks and recreation. Sessions will be held from 6 - 8 p.m., with a light meal provided each time. The Academy starts on October 3 and ends on November 19 with a graduation ceremony. The application deadline is noon on Sunday, Sept. 1. The program is free, limited to 25 participants who must be Brighton residents or employed within the city. Applicants must be 18 or older and must attend all sessions, with a maximum of one absence allowed. To apply, visit brightonco.gov/civicacademy.
