Geneva Voters Approve School and Library Budgets
The Geneva City School District's proposed budget received 80.1 percent voter approval on Tuesday, with 455 votes in favor and 113 opposed. In the school board race, candidates Brian Finnerty and Matthew Herbert ran unopposed. Finnerty received the highest number of votes with 516, earning a five-year term, while Herbert won a one-year term with 423 votes.
Voters also approved a transportation purchase, with 428 Yes votes to 137 No votes, and the Capital Reserve Fund, with 454 Yes votes and 108 No votes.
Additionally, the Geneva Public Library budget was approved by 78.1 percent of voters, with 439 Yes votes and 123 No votes. Joann Holland, who ran unopposed for a library board trustee seat, was elected with 461 votes to serve a five-year term.
