**Bridge Street Widening Project Update - September 20, 2024**

The City of Brighton, Colorado, has provided an update regarding the ongoing Bridge Street widening project. Construction activities will occur from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday.

Starting September 20, crews will be working on the median between 22nd and 42nd Avenue, leading to further changes in traffic configurations. One lane of through-traffic will remain open in each direction, but drivers should expect alterations to existing road alignments in the construction zone. Designated turn areas will be established for business access, though some temporary restrictions may apply. At least one access point will stay open for all businesses and residents along Bridge Street.

On September 19, the traffic signal at 27th Avenue will transition to a permanent structure. During this change, drivers may experience intermittent delays of up to five minutes on Bridge Street as the temporary signal is removed. Once this transition is completed, the signal will be fully operational.

Also on September 20, left-turn restrictions will be enforced at the intersection of Bridge Street and 40th Avenue, allowing only right-in and right-out turns. Drivers should plan to use alternate routes, as turning left from 40th Avenue onto westbound Bridge Street will not be permitted, nor will westbound travelers be able to turn left onto 40th Avenue.

Village Hill Drive and Firehouse Road will shift to a permanent right-in, right-out turn configuration at the end of this week. This adjustment aims to reduce traffic and improve safety in turning areas that have been prone to accidents.

The west access point to the 27J HR building is now closed; access should be routed through the eastern driveway off of Bridge Street.

Additionally, temporary localized closures may occur throughout the project area for utility work. Speed limits have been reduced in the construction zone, and traffic enforcement will be monitoring the area to ensure safety for both workers and the public.

Heavy equipment and trucks will continue to move in and out of the project zone, so drivers are advised to slow down, watch for construction workers and equipment, and maintain space between vehicles.

The project team appreciates the public's patience and cooperation during construction. Please note that all schedules are subject to change due to weather conditions and material availability.
