**Community Mourns the Loss of Kristen Hayes, Frederick-Firestone Fire District Community Risk Reduction Specialist**

Frederick, Colorado - The Frederick-Firestone Fire District (FFFD) has announced the passing of Community Risk Reduction Specialist Kristen Hayes on Thursday, February 27, 2025. Hayes, who joined the FFFD in early 2023, was a significant contributor to the district’s educational outreach and community safety programs.

Kristen Hayes began her career in emergency services in 2009 as a 9-1-1 Dispatcher for Adams County Communications (ADCOM). In 2018, she transitioned to the South Adams County Fire Department, where she worked as a Fire Prevention Specialist and Life Safety Educator. Her dedication to public safety continued when she became the Community Risk Reduction Specialist for the FFFD in 2023. In this role, she was instrumental in leading community classes and organizing outreach initiatives to improve safety and awareness in the local community.

Her passing has deeply affected her colleagues, community members, and her family. The Greeley Fire Department has also expressed their condolences, extending their sympathies to Hayes’ family and the FFFD team.

Greeley man sentenced to 159 years for fentanyl, meth distribution

Greeley, Colo. — A man was sentenced to 159 years in prison in Weld County for fentanyl and meth distribution, following the work of the Weld County Drug Task Force and prosecutors with the Weld County District Attorney’s Office, which said the case involved the removal of thousands of fentanyl pills and large amounts of methamphetamine from the community.

CDOT to install traffic signals at CO 52, WCR 41

Crews will install new traffic signals, stop lines, signage and other signal-related devices at the intersection of CO 52 and Weld County Road 41 between Hudson and Fort Lupton, according to the Colorado Department of Transportation, with work weekdays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., shoulder closures and lane shifts, reduced speeds and flaggers guiding traffic.

59th Avenue Closure Remains in Effect in Greeley

Greeley, Colo. — 59th Avenue between F Street and O Street remains closed for construction, with detours via AA Street to the north, 4th Street to the south, 83rd Avenue west of the project and 35th Avenue east of it, and message boards at O Street, 83rd Avenue, N. 47th Avenue and 59th Avenue/AA Street guiding motorists while live updates are posted on the Weld County Road Advisory Map.

Greeley Police investigate after man found dead outside apartment complex

Greeley police say they are investigating the Feb. 16 death of a 45-year-old man found with a head injury outside an apartment complex, calling it an isolated incident with no threat to the community as the Weld County Coroner’s Office will release the name and the investigation continues.
