Bridge Street Widening Project: Latest Updates 2024
Staff Report / Brightonlocal.org
**Bridge Street Widening Update - October 4, 2024**
The City of Brighton, Colorado, has provided updates on the ongoing Bridge Street widening project. Working hours are scheduled from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday.
Traffic realignments will continue on Bridge Street between 22nd and 42nd Avenue, with crews milling the median for the next month. This will result in traffic being shifted to the outside lanes, although one lane of traffic in each direction will remain open. Drivers are urged to be cautious when navigating the construction zone, as turn areas for businesses will be designated, with some temporary restrictions.
An additional right-in, right-out only configuration will be implemented at the Bridge Street and 40th Avenue intersection next week. This will prohibit left turns from northbound 40th Avenue onto westbound Bridge Street and from westbound Bridge Street onto southbound 40th Avenue for one week. Drivers are advised to use alternate routes.
Village Hill Drive and Firehouse Road have been made permanent right-in, right-out only turns as part of the project, aimed at reducing traffic and improving safety in accident-prone areas.
The west access point to the 27J HR building is closed. Access should be made through the eastern driveway off Bridge Street.
Additional temporary closures may occur throughout the project corridor for utility operations. Speed limit reductions are in effect in the project area, and increased traffic enforcement will be present to ensure safety.
Drivers should expect trucks and heavy equipment entering and exiting the roadway. Caution is advised while traveling through construction areas, allowing plenty of space between vehicles.
The project team expresses appreciation for the community’s patience and cooperation during construction. All scheduling is subject to change based on weather conditions and material availability.
